Caroline Juran has been employed by the Virginia Department of Health Professions since 2005 and currently serves as Executive Director of the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. Prior to her employment with the department, she practiced in long term care and community pharmacy, held certification as a geriatric pharmacist, and served as a preceptor. Ms. Juran completed her studies at The College of William and Mary and graduated from the School of Pharmacy at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995. She recently served as Chairman of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.
Dr. JoeMichael Fusco currently serves as the MCO Pharmacy Compliance Manager at the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), Virginia’s Medicaid program. After receiving his Pharm.D. from West Virginia University, he began his career in the Medicaid space as the Assistant Director of the Rational Drug Therapy Program within the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy Pharmaceutical Systems and Policies Department. In this role he worked to advance the West Virginia Medicaid pharmacy benefit by developing programs to address chronic disease state management, chronic pain management, and substance use disorder. After 6 years of program development and implementation, he moved into his current state government role with The Commonwealth. Dr. Fusco has spearheaded the enrollment of pharmacists as providers with DMAS and has worked to create pathways to payment for clinical services provided by pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy technicians.
John Bucheit is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science at Virginia Commonwealth University. He specializes in ambulatory care/primary care pharmacy and practices under a collaborative agreement at CrossOver Healthcare Ministry, a Patient-Centered Medical Home. Additionally, he serves as the primary preceptor for the ambulatory care residency at VCU School of Pharmacy. Areas of interest in research include hypertension, diabetes, and interprofessional education.
