Professor and director, Community-Based Residency Program, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy
Goode is professor, School of Pharmacy, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), and director of the VCU PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program. Goode is currently a credentialed community-based pharmacist practitioner at the Daily Planet Health Services Inc., a federally qualified health care center for the homeless. She has developed innovative pharmacist patient care programs within a patient-centered medical home including medication therapy management; chronic disease management; patient education; prevention and wellness including immunizations, wellness visits and community outreach; collaborative team care for high-risk patients including diabetes; and pharmacist-run medication refill program. She worked 10 years with Ukrop’s Pharmacy to develop enhanced patient care programs in the community-based setting including medication therapy management, wellness, immunization, pre-travel health, diabetes, osteoporosis and smoking cessation. Goode has pharmacy practice experience in community, health-system, long-term care, managed care and home care.
Goode is a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist. She has served as a senior author and collaborator on abstracts, special publications and journal articles. She is the senior editor of the Community Pharmacy Practice Case Studies book. Goode has given presentations on a wide variety of topics including immunizations, practice-based research networks, medication therapy management, diabetes, asthma, leadership and innovative community-based pharmacy practice.
Goode is a liaison member of the National Vaccine Advisory Workgroup and member of the National Foundation of Infectious Disease Foundation Board of Directors. She is a member of the ASHP Commission on Credentialing. Goode is a former president of the American Pharmacists Association and past president of the Virginia Pharmacists Association. She served two terms as APhA Trustee and is a former APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management president and trustee. Goode was recently named as one of the “Next 10 Women in Pharmacy” by the APhA Foundation. Goode has received several awards including the VCU Alumni Star, Ed D. Spearbeck Virginia Pharmacists Service Award, Inaugural NACDS Foundation Community Pharmacy Faculty Award, the APhA Daniel B. Smith Practice Excellence Award and Community Pharmacy Residency Excellence in Precepting Award, VCU Distinguished Service Award, APhA-APPM Clinical/Pharmacotherapeutic Distinguished Achievement Award, VCU School of Pharmacy Teaching Excellence Award and VSHP Practice Innovation Award. She is a fellow in APhA and ACCP.
Goode was born in Roanoke, Virginia; she received her B.S. in agricultural economics from Virginia Tech and her B.S. in pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy from VCU. Goode is a member of VPhA, APhA, ACCP, Phi Lambda Sigma, Rho Chi and Kappa Epsilon.
